The International Federation of Interior
Architects / Designers (IFI) was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark
in 1963, is generally regarded as the world body representing
Interior Architects / Designers. To date, IFI has a total
of 34 Full members and 24 Associate Members.
In 1991, Malaysian Society of Interior Designers (MSID) won
a measure of international recognition when it was accepted
as an Associate Member of International Federation of Interior
Architects / Designers at IFI 's 15th General Assembly held
in Chicago, USA. In 1993, MSID was admitted as a Full Member
of the IFI at 16th General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland.
To date, MSID had been sending delegates to IFI General Assembly
and Congress, which is held biannually without fail.
The core values of the IFI include :
Promote the Interior / Architecture / Design
Profession.
Represent Interior Architecture / Design Professionals.
Assist and facilitate the exchange of professional and cultural
information.
Encourage international co-operation and business transaction.
Provide information on economic, political and technical development.
Create an organisation of service to the Interior Architecture
/ Design Profession facilitating industry involvement.
Use professional skills of Interior Architecture / Design
to uplift communities and observe social responsibility.
Liase with other international design related organisation.
The requirements and acceptance to be MSID
Corporate Members (Full Members) as stated in MSID's Constitution
is in compliance with the requirements and academic qualifications
set forth in IFI's Articles / Constitution. Therefore all
MSID Corporate Members are recognized as qualified Interior
Designers internationally. The next IFI Congress will be held
in 2003 in Mumbai, India.
